The Secret Garden is a lovely relaxing private venue that holds pre-booked events during the months of May to September.
We are licensed for civil ceremonies and also have licensed inside and outside bars. We host and cater for mainly weddings here, but increasingly we are holding smaller intimate events such as private parties, christening and afternoon teas, all of which we love to host.
Our staff are hand-picked individuals who are very friendly and relaxed yet extremely professional. You and your guests are our main priority and will be the only ones here and that’s what makes The Secret Garden so special!

The Georgian Tea Garden is a formal raised lawn area surrounded by flowering borders. It is a beautiful space to fully appreciate the character of the property. The Georgian Tea Garden and French Courtyard are linked by the Orangery where civil ceremonies take place. This setting provides a lovely walkway and entrance for the bride and a true outdoor-indoor feel making it perfect for afternoon teas.
Central to the garden is the French Courtyard, a beautiful social space surrounded by hanging baskets and flowers. There is a French style balcony that overlooks the Walled Garden and Old Orchard. It is the ideal central point of the garden, the perfect place to meet and enjoy drinks in the Coach House Bar.
Originally a vegetable garden in the 1800’s, this old country garden is accessed via period brick footpaths leading under clematis and rose archways to a secluded and tranquil reception lawn ideal for pre-event drinks. The mature trees provide much sought after shaded areas for those wonderful hot summer days.
Also situated in the Walled Garden is the Yorkshireman; from where a full drinks service can be provided directly onto the lawn.
This walk leads you from the Walled Garden and Old Orchard to a wonderful summer meadow.
Enjoy strolling or sitting and taking in the breathtaking and uninterrupted views over the Nottinghamshire countryside.
Central to the Old Orchard are the established apple and pear trees. This area is loved by our younger guests who take great pleasure in the children’s play area and the run out to the meadow.
The Old Paddock is where you will find the original stable and courtyard with a selection of old farm tools and machinery. This is a versatile area which provides ample space for parking. From this area you can enter the Hill Top Meadow and enjoy the embracing views.
The Marquee Area is on the grassed tennis court situated next to the Old Orchard and is ideal for shelter in inclement weather or heat and is the location for a large marquee should this be required.
